What is Massage Cupping™?
Massage Cupping™ is the combination of massage movements and negative pressure
with the use of a suction device on the skin. It sometimes may be referred to as
VacuTherapy or MediCupping.
First, a cup is positioned at the area to be treated. Second, a vacuum is created within
the cup to draw the skin and underlying tissue into the cup. The result is a suction effect
that relaxes and brings hydration to muscle tissue, loosens adhesions, increases blood
and lymphatic circulations, and draws stagnation, pathogenic factors and toxins out of
the body.
The intended suction can range from light to heavy. The movement may be long and
draining or circular and stimulating for stubborn knots and areas of rigid tissue. The skin
will turn very red with strong suction, indicating that the circulation has been brought to
the surface. Massage Cupping™ therapy is not an irritant to the skin or body. It draws the
inflammation out, yet does not add to it. Any discoloration produced by the vacuum like
